There are many ways you can support our efforts to eliminate chronic homelessness and reduce all other types of homelessness.
You might consider donating time by serving as a volunteer. We can always use more voices as we advocate for change. To learn ways you can volunteer, click here to fill out a Time and Talent survey. You may want to consider asking your church to form a HOPE Team, or joining one if your church already participates in this valuable outreach of befriending a newly housed individual. A HOPE Team consist of 4-6 highly committed volunteers from local faith communities who focus on providing practical, emotional and spiritual support to friends, once homeless but now permanently housed, for a period of 9 to 12 months. For more information about HOPE Teams, click here.
Perhaps you would like to make an in-kind donation of an item that you no longer use, but that would be of great value to someone else. A new home comes with new aspirations and new beginnings. Our friends are experiencing a new beginning, as they are moving into a safe place and beginning a journey to restoration. New homes often require a bit of work to get everything in shape; in our lives a housewarming occasion marks the start of working on a new life. We ask for your support in helping us create housewarming experiences for our friends so that we can ensure a positive transition as they begin to connect to the community. Furniture, household items, and appliances can be donated to The Barnabas Network or Home to Home. These two furniture ministries supply furniture, home furnishings, and appliances at no cost to clients referred by their partners. They work tirelessly so that people struggling hard to raise themselves from poverty, homelessness, or who are recovering from financial or personal setbacks have help to set themselves on the path to self-sufficiency.
If you would like to make a monetary donation to our efforts, please send the donation care of Jehan Benton, Family Service of the Piedmont, 902 Bonner Drive, Jamestown, NC 27282. Checks should be made payable to Family Service of the Piedmont and should reference the Partners Ending Homelessness Initiative.
Just as many notes are needed to make a melody, so are many hands needed to realize our goals. We believe we can do it but not without your help. Every contribution is significant - won’t you join our team today and help us support our homeless friends in Guilford County?
