The National Alliance to End Homelessness is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to mobilize the nonprofit, public and private sectors of society in an alliance to end homelessness. The Alliance represents a united effort to address the root causes of homelessness and challenge society's acceptance of homelessness as an inevitable by-product of American life.
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Emergency Food & Shelter Program allocates federal funds for the provision of food and shelter to the neediest areas. FEMA strives to provide a fast response, to foster public/private sector cooperation, and to ensure local decision-making.
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration on Children Youth and Families administers the major Federal programs that support social services that promote the positive growth and development of children and youth and their families; protective services and shelter for children and youth in at-risk situations; child care for working families and families on public assistance; and adoption for children with special needs.
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA) is the Federal agency charged with improving the quality and availability of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation services in order to reduce illness, death, disability, and cost to society resulting from substance abuse and mental illnesses.
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HUD's mission is to increase home ownership, support community development and increase access to affordable housing free from discrimination. HUD is the federal agency charged with providing homeless assistance grants.
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Homeless Programs Office offers a continuum of services that include outreach to veterans living on streets and in shelters, clinical assessment and referral to needed medical treatment for physical and psychiatric disorders, long-term sheltered transitional assistance and case management, employment assistance and linkage with available income supports, and supported permanent housing.
U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness Congress established the Interagency Council on Homelessness in 1987 with the passage of the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act. The Departments of Housing and Urban Development, Agriculture, Education, Health and Human Services, and Labor are among the departments represented on the Council. The Council is responsible for providing Federal leadership for activities to assist homeless families and individuals.
Homeless Resource Center An interactive community of providers, consumers, policymakers, researchers, and public agencies at federal, state, and local levels that share state-of-the art knowledge and promising practices to prevent and end homelessness through:

Mental Health America The country's leading nonprofit dedicated to helping ALL people live mentally healthier lives. They represent a growing movement of Americans who promote mental wellness for the health and well-being of the nation - everyday and in times of crisis.

North Carolina Coalition to End Homelessness is a statewide membership nonprofit created to secure resources, encourage public dialogue, and advocate for public policy change to end homelessness.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is the largest agency in state government, responsible for ensuring the health, safety and well being of all North Carolinians, providing the human service needs for fragile populations like the mentally ill, deaf, blind and developmentally disabled, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.
The Homeless Prevention Coalition of Guilford County is a diverse, community based coalition working to end homelessness in our community.
Guilford County Substance Abuse Coalition brings together the provider community and Guilford County Residents to develop a partnership through advocacy, education, collaboration, and support of best practice principles to effectively address substance abuse.

North Carolina Coalition to End Homelessness NCCEH offers individuals assistance in finding your voice. When we work as a team, advocacy doesn't have to take much time. You can rely on us to stay up-to-date on legislation and to alert you when your voice can help us make a difference. We're here to help you figure out the system, what works and what doesn't. National Alliance to End HomelessnessThe Alliance offers a number of resources that provide information on federal policies that affect different homeless populations. To help policymakers, advocates, and practitioners stay up to date on legislation, they post legislative updates on a number of key pieces of legislation and their policy priorities. In addition to providing congressional testimony, we also developed a resource specifically for congressional staff. Advocates should check out their Advocacy page for information on taking action to end homelessness.
Mental Health America Mental Health America is dedicated to promoting mental health, preventing mental disorders and achieving victory over mental illness through advocacy and continues to lead the mental health movement by informing and coalescing mental health stakeholders across the country. Mental Health America supports and empowers mental health advocacy organizations as they confront policy challenges and opportunities.
